Oh, Aiur, Amun, Adun, Artanis, Alarak… How good it was before! Azeroth, Archimonde, Arthas, Anduin, Arathor, Alliance at worst!
And one more thing: the company of Protoss puts pressure on the feelings of oldfags.
When I saw Phoenix and the units from the first part, I whined like a bitch
Vasily, thank you very much for the review. The review itself is more a review of the single-player game, and not the multiplayer, which has been shaken up a little. Entering even a couple of units changes many strategies. Archon mode is an excellent opportunity for a newcomer to join the game, under the command of a veteran of the game, and automatic tournaments simplify your ascent to the eSports Olympus. Co-op missions are a great idea for fans of co-op strategy games. I’m glad that you can change units in the campaign, which refreshes the game after hundreds of multiplayer battles. Together with the epic conclusion to the saga, this, in my opinion, is amazing. And there are not many strategies left.
In fact, Vasily is not entirely right. The game has not been the same for 5 years. Without a doubt, the core mechanics are the same… after all, this is a strategy. But then the same can be said about all shooters… In every StarCraft, everything lies in the little things and nuances. First of all, each race is played completely differently. And you can feel this perfectly in the epilogue, where you play each race in turn. For example: for the Terrans, until you properly establish the economy, defense and technological development, you will not advance far beyond the borders of the base. In addition, thanks to the variety of units, a huge platform for offensive tactics arises. Like a rush by cruisers with tanks, like an “artillery attack” with siege tanks and ghosts, like a blitzkrieg by aviation with transporters, etc. It’s easier for the Protoss – The main thing is to establish the economy and you can rush anyone, the main thing is to control the map with pylons. New units and their diversity also add variety. Each has its own unique ability that can radically change the gameplay. (a striking example is the alternative of the Zealots: either powerful AOE or point control) Therefore, releasing each new part, letting us play as only one race, each time they give us a completely new game, which feels completely different.
The problems in this game are different… The fact that it is weaker than its previous parts. In “Wings of Freedom” much more attention was paid to details, the characters were more interesting and lively, and in Hyperion you could get lost… forgetting that you are playing a strategy game. In “Heart of the Swarm” the missions were much more varied and fun. In each, you were given some unusual and non-trivial goal, adding some unusual condition. It was necessary not only to build a strategy to match the race, but also to adapt to the environment. In the new part… there is almost no diversity. Most of the missions – either destroy the nth number of strategic points + an additional goal to liberate another nth number of points on the map. Or heroes walking around the map using their abilities. Or defense for a while. The prologue was amazing. Each mission was super unusual and varied. She surprised and made me think. And most importantly..
Here’s the third complaint… complexity! The prologue made me sweat! Moreover, it didn’t infuriate you, but made you see the gap in your strategy and rethink everything. And then try the new option again. And so far it will not be possible. And that’s cool! After all, this is why we play the single player campaign! A good campaign should be like a puzzle created for us by the developer. And the feeling of satisfaction after solving it is a reward. Such missions are memorable and enjoyable. What can I say about the main campaign… It’s criminally simple! And setting a high difficulty level doesn’t help here. The essence of the strategy does not change at all, it’s just that the number of enemies is growing and so is the damage from them. And this one is just annoying. The whole point of complexity is lost if there is no puzzle..
Actually, I’ll sum up my conclusion: the rating is deservedly “commendable”. But Vasily slightly incorrectly noted where exactly the game sank. After all, the tightness of the cutscenes and the blandness of the dialogues are common quibbles that do not concern the basic mechanics. But what I indicated above will be a more serious problem. However, the game is still great and definitely worth the money. This is the end of the epic saga! Considering that there are no competitors or alternatives to the “Old Man” – for strategy lovers it’s a 100% must-have.
Z.Y. If you give all the games in the series a “2” rating:
Wings of Freedom – "Amazing" (9 out of 10) – for a great comeback, a big "WOW"!» effect and attention to detail.
Heart of the Swarm – Amazing (10 out of 10) – for remarkable variety in missions and genuine surprise. The quality of the game has reached a new level compared to the previous game.
“Legacy of the Void” – “commendable” (7 out of 10) – unfortunately, it is inferior in every way to the previous parts. Apparently at the end the authors ran out of ideas.
Z.Y.Y. I thought about writing a https://gobet88casino.co.uk/login/ whole blog on this topic, but I already said everything I wanted in the comments… So okay. I can write on the topic “Threads left by Meteletsa for a potential continuation”… if, of course, it is necessary..
I bought it precisely because I only need a campaign, maybe there is something wrong with me, of course, but I have no desire to wait for the crack (because there is still none) and play the campaign by launching it like hell (as was the case during the first cracks for WoL), and since I bought the original with the addon, why not take the second addon.
In fact, there are a lot of people who bought the game just to play the campaign and they don’t need trained microcontrol.
Um… I generally agree. Yes, the protoss cannot do without driven and sometimes annoying pathos, because the situation and the world require it. Dialogues are a bit boring. Various missions. “Hyperion” – one love, all that and all those that were and were on board that flying palace, give a light to the not particularly interesting content of the womb of Leviathan and the compartments of the “Spear of Adun”. And yes, for some reason the videos in the latest Blizzard Entertainment games are of really terrible quality. I remember this caught my eye back in 2011, when I was playing “Wings of Liberty”, and it would be nice to have a pirate in a city where there was no normal Internet, but it was the same in the licensed version and is still the same. It’s quite annoying.
But from the phrase at the beginning: “StarCraft”. StarCraft never changes.", – I was just blown away. Damn, I understand that Vasya was focused specifically on the campaign, like some others, where very little changed. But the campaign is about 20% of all StarCraft. "Wings of Liberty", "Heart of the Swarm", "Legacy of the Void", are three distinct eras of the game and not only in the campaign, but also in multiplayer, in multiplayer even more than in the campaign. Each period of the game had its own specific gameplay and mechanics. Many will say that this was a stupid cut of the plot into three pieces, but, for me, this rather allowed the developer to work better on honing the game. It was a cool development cycle for the game and especially the cyber-competitive discipline. And Legacy of the Void, by the way, brings more changes to StarCraft 2 than either of the two previous addons. I don’t know who you have to be not to notice six new units, a departure from many macro elements, an even greater elevation of microcontrol to the absolute success, which are significantly transforming the game, which was evident even at the beta stage. And I don’t in any way want to say: “That Vasya is a moron, he stupidly dared to open his mouth without understanding it, and in general the consoles are crap.“- it’s quite difficult to see all this if you don’t dive deep enough into the game, which will require a lot of effort and time, and He already admitted that he doesn’t even set foot in multiplayer games. I don’t think it was right to give a review to a person who doesn’t really like multiplayer games a game that is fundamentally multiplayer.
And I’m also interested in whether there will be a massive massacre of the “StopGame” team.Ru" in "StarCraft 2", as in "Age of Empires", where Vasya bent everything?
This is the situation with the exchange rate, Blizzard games have always been expensive. I’m honestly thinking about buying the game, since I’ve only played the starter version before. Still, it’s better to compare the price of a strategy game with other recently released strategies. And there we have: Heroes 7 for 1200, Anno for 2000, Act of Aggression for 1500. Yes, Batman is cheaper but it’s a different game. MGS costs as much as 100 rubles cheaper, which does not make it better. Look at the prices on Steam for November AAA games: Folych 2k, Kolda 2.6k, Battelfront for 2.5. After that 1.5k for a great game (especially if you haven’t played previous expansions) isn’t that much anymore. And pre-ordering the next good strategy: Total War: Warhammer costs 2k
How I miss Starcraft, WoW, Diablo, Hearthstone, and even Heroes of the Storm… The bastards blocked my account, and there was ABSOLUTELY everything. Not even any compensation… Well, I’ll probably never remember about them. I’m not planning to move from Crimea to the mainland 🙁
Legacy of the Void international price: 40 bucks. For comparison: a full-fledged modern game today costs between 50 and 60 dollars.
The review is good, thanks to Vasya, but still it was possible to put Raisin. After all, 17 motherfucking years have passed since the beginning of the first part, and here is the grandiose conclusion of such an epic that the whole world knows! It’s not every day that a story like this ends.
As for the changes… Well, in my opinion it was obvious that the game would not change from “Wings”. Blizz has a mechanic and they use it. Moreover, this mechanic has been working for 17 years – Starcraft is one of those strategies in which there is probably an ideal balance between races and each race is truly unique. In addition, the game does not come out every year, so the minus about “The game does not change” is not entirely appropriate here (there are more suitable candidates). They don’t force you to take a new game every year, with a “new” multiplayer (after all, StarCraft, although it’s about the plot, and is quite cool, is based on multiplayer). They released Wings with it, and over the course of 5 years they modified it, leaving it alone, that is, to play Cartoon (if you are a fan of it, and not the single), you do not need to take either the Heart or the Legacy.
And the price… In my opinion, this is a complaint about the course, but not about the game, by God.
P.S. I don’t know why, but Alarakh is the spitting image of Eldar from Warhammer. Every time I see him, I remember Warlocks or Warp Spiders
Ratings on StopGame.Ru. Ratings on StopGame.Ru never change.
Well, guys, by God, you seem to have this trick: once every few months, give a high score to a game that doesn’t deserve it, and give a low score to a game that really deserves a high score. Fallout 4 sang its praises and rated it “Amazing”, although the game is a typical “Commendable”, and for fans of the series, even more so “Passing” (if not “Trash”). Here is the finale of one of the grandest game series, straight Star Wars of the gaming industry, and you are chewing a washcloth, “Well, the dialogues are not like that,” “Well, the balance hasn’t changed much.”. Yes, compared to the “great” Fallout 4, the dialogues in StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void are simply the pinnacle of screenwriting art. Regarding the price, of course everyone has their own opinion, but as for me the price is quite adequate, pay 1500 rubles every two years. for an excellent RTS with a wonderful storyline, this is a completely justified price (although immediately after release the price dropped by 500, or even more rubles., which is generally wonderful), here they pay 2000, or even 4000 rubles for the next Call of Duty and Assassins Creeds. every year, it’s really the same eggs only in profile, they don’t even bother much with the plot, and the multiplayer is still just as pitiful.
The fact that “Metelitsa” came out in pieces can be forgiven, the game is a masterpiece (however, you wouldn’t expect anything else from Blizzard)
I’m the one who was waiting for StarCraft just because of the storyline. Multiplayer is still very nerdy both in terms of knowledge of mechanics and in terms of reaction speed and micro and macro control capabilities.
It is VERY strange to see a review of StarCraft where a couple of lines are devoted to multiplayer (extremely inappropriate lines). Vasily, how is this possible?? Multiplayer hasn’t changed? Seriously? Yes, now anyone who actively played the last 2 addons will quickly get lost in the very first online battle, because the changes have affected the bulk of tactics in the game. And in this vein, statements like: “a couple of new units have been added and a couple of small changes to the balance” look like an elementary misunderstanding of the essence of the issue. Thank you for your efforts, but still this attitude towards such a cult game as StarCraft does not look nice.
Now calm down, breathe out. Look at the review of Folych 4 from Vanya Loev (where there is a rubbish rating) and listen to Vasya’s arguments. The single player campaign of LotV (the missions are weaker than HotS), and the plot.
He is bad, he is a collection of all the cliches and plots of blizzard. Someone comes, talks about a huge threat but they don’t believe him (hello Warcraft), all Artanis gathers ALL the protoss on the ship and says a cliché. The joining of the Tal’darim is tense: HE betrayed us, We will take revenge and don’t care that we served him for so many years. The murder of Amun is a separate story: All the protoss defeated him, we will build ourselves a new and excellent society, but no, we still have to have an epilogue. But who will defeat Amon, who is the main character of the entire franchise, the character: Of course Kerrigan, this is her destiny. And this magnificent turn with her was guessed in the final monologue of the previous part. But the blizzards ruined even her self-sacrifice and leaked it! No, she survived, and she and Raynor lived happily ever after. Some kind of Disney. Where are those sweet endings where in order to save the world you have to destroy some part of it (Diablo)? Where is the madness of the heroes and their fall to the dark side followed by the genocide of their own people (Warcraft)?
Here, even for those who are not StarCraft fans, you can put raisins. Especially considering that LotV is standalone. That is, it is quite possible that someone will become acquainted with the series for the first time
