VẢI DỆT KIM Là loại vải có cấu trúc được hình thành bởi các vòng sợi đan xen vào nhau theo chiều ngang, chúng được tạo thành các hàng vòng và móc nối riêng lẻ theo chiều dọc với vòng lặp tương ứng trong hàng ngang tiếp theo.
Một điểm nổi bật nữa là loại vải có thể được sản xuất bằng tay bằng cách sử dụng hai kim đan và một quả bóng sợi. Máy dệt có thể sản xuất vải phẳng hoặc vải hình ống tùy theo từng loại.Các vòng lặp được lồng vào nhau, các sợi dọc có tên gọi là Wales còn các sợi ngang gọi là Courses. Nếu dệt đúng thì Wales và Courses giao nhau một góc 90 độ. Kết cấu của vải tricot khá khác biệt khi so sánh với các loại vật liệu vải khác. Với cấu tạo thớ sợi dọc liên kết với nhau, vải tricot mang lại đặc tính mềm mại nhưng vẫn giữ đủ độ cứng cáp nhất định khi lên form.
Cấu tạo dạng vòng sợi của vải dệt kim mang lại khả năng đàn hồi cao, ít khi tạo thành nếp nhăn. Chất liệu vải khó bị nhàu, do đó giữ form dáng tốt, phù hợp với các mục đích ứng dụng cơ bản. Bề mặt vải có đặc tính mềm mại, thoáng khí và khá xốp giúp hạn chế bám bẩn và tăng độ bền khi sử dụng.
So với các loại vải khác, vải dệt kim có độ dày thấp, song vẫn đảm bảo đặc tính co giãn và thấm hút tốt. Chất vải có khả năng giữ nhiệt ưu việt nhờ kết cấu sợi tăng cường quá trình thoát khí giữa các bề mặt với nhau.
Các loại vải dệt kim phổ biến nhất hiện nay
Vải dệt kim được phân chia dựa trên các kiểu dệt ở bề mặt vải, gồm vải dệt kim thớ ngang và vải dệt kim đang dọc. Vải dệt kim đang ngang được chia thành 3 loại chính là vải Rib, Single Jersey và Interlock.
+ Rib : là loại vải có 2 mặt phải cấu tạo từ các cột vòng phải nằm xen kẽ với các cột vòng trái, tạo thành hai lớp cột vòng trên hai mặt phẳng song song với nhau. Vải Rib có độ dày cao, khả năng đàn hồi tốt và ít bị quăn mép như các loại vải dệt kim khác.
+ Single Jersey : là loại vải có mặt phải và mặt trái khác nhau rõ rệt. Mặt phải của thớ vải gồm các trụ vòng, trong khi mặt trái gồm các hàng vòng. Vải có độ dày trung bình, dễ bị quăn mép khi sử dụng.
+ Interlock có cấu tạo tương tự như vải Rib, có hai mặt phải tương tự nhau với hệ thống cột vòng phải ở lớp này chồng khít với cột vòng phải của lớp kia. Vải có đặc tính mịn, ít bị quăn góc và hầu như không co giãn.
Vải dệt kim đang dọc bao gồm vải Tricot, Milan và Raschel.
+ Tricot là loại vải có một mặt trái với hệ thống gân nang và một mặt phải với các gân sọc dọc mang lại kết cấu mềm mại, có độ ủ nhất định, khả năng đàn hồi cao. Loại vải này gồm các mẫu Tico, Lachelle, Milanis và Simplex, trong đó phổ biến nhất là Ticoto và Rasche.
+ Milan là loại vải dệt kim có cấu tạo gồm các sườn gân dọc rõ nét nằm ở mặt phải và các đường chéo ở mặt phải. Vải có trọng lượng nhẹ, bề mặt mịn, đứng dáng, có độ ổn định và bền bỉ hơn so với các chất vải khác.
+ Raschel là loại vải có kết cấu khá phức tạp với hệ thống các mắt lưới thưa, hai mặt vải tương tự nhau về cấu trúc. Vải hầu như không co giãn, thường được sử dụng làm vật liệu thông gió trong các ứng dụng thời trang.
